I just loved these last few posts from Wyatt Mason, in which he holds a single sentence from Joseph O'Neill's novel Netherland up to the light. As a reader I sometimes get a little too sidetracked by theoretical matters, and it's nice to read things like this that bring the words on the page back into focus:
